Mesh Direct has worked with some amazing people on some amazing projects over the last 12 months. There are too many high points to mention here, but after many building wraps and hundreds of kilometres of vinyl banners and banner mesh, here is a wrap up of some of the highlights from 2020.
The year kicked off with a bang on the 26th of January. The celebration of Australia Day brings the country to a halt. So naturally, it requires show-shopping signage! Working with the Department of Premier and Cabinet, Mesh Direct provided signage solutions for a floating barge, triffids and a 6x12m floor decal.
Australia Day was a big one to follow, but we only went bigger from there. Mammoth Projects approached Mesh Direct in late 2019 for a building wrap in early 2020 that would cover Clifton's historic Imperial Hotel. The much-anticipated restoration needed signage that would match the excitement of the project and intrigue passersby. The result certainly accomplished this.
While this project was going on, Mesh Direct was preparing big, bold & unforgettable signage for Electric Gardens. Everything from crowd control banners to stage backdrops created a truly electric atmosphere.
From there, we were privileged to work on a project featuring the jewel of Sydney’s skyline, The Sydney Opera House. Undergoing upgrades, Mesh Direct provided vinyl hoardings which lined the outer facade of the building for a two-year project. Printing on our durable Fire Rated PVC Vinyl and applying anti-graffiti/UV protection the final graphics had a fantastic print reproduction which will stand the test of time.
A quick jump into April saw Mesh Direct working on a jump form for Parkview Constructions’ Granville Place. Mesh Direct provided Vinyl hoardings which were planned, designs & manufactured off-site & installed during fringe hours so as to not disrupt construction. The undeniably impact from the bold design can be seen from miles around.
May marked the start of the silly season & was an incredibly busy month. There were many projects on the go but there were certainly two clear standouts: Jump form signage for Roberts Pizzarotti in Sydney’s Lower North Shore and vinyl signage for Icon on Harrington Street at the iconic Sydney Rocks. Both projects required innovative signage solutions, from the artwork design to the installation. When it comes to larger than life signage, Mesh Direct loves a challenging project to sink our teeth into.
Towards the end of May, a truly memorable project came our way. Working alongside RM Watson and the City of Sydney, Mesh Direct created vinyl hoardings in Chifley square including vintage photographs which brought passerby to a halt.
Shifting gears, in June Mesh Direct worked with Burberry to create a striking building wrap which would mask renovations to the Burberry building.
The halfway mark in the year was certainly reserved for the biggest and the boldest projects. A perfect example of this was a 40m x 5m PVC vinyl banner for Charter Hall. Needed to be visible from the motorway, this was a banner for the books!
In September, Mesh Direct had another opportunity to create signage for a landmark in Sydney, the Law Courts Building in the heart of the city. The purpose of the project was to return the Law Courts to their former glory. Masking these renovations, Mesh Direct supplied vinyl hoardings with striking artwork to conceal the renovation process.
Some projects pose challenges on all fronts, from artwork to installation. However, it often means they are the most rewarding with the most spectacular results. Creating custom printed vinyl hoardings for Decode for their Glenmore Project was one such project. The unique artwork resulted in a show-stopping outcome that certainly turns heads!
Ending the year off on an absolute high, Mesh Direct provided Eco Vinyl hoardings and a building wrap for the iconic restoration of Sydney Town Hall. Nothing about this project was small or simple but the end result was absolutely spectacular!
