When Sydney Opera House reached out to Mesh Direct in March 2020 for the Vinyl banner project, we knew an exciting project was coming our way - and we were not disappointed! Sydney Opera House asked Mesh Direct to design the hoarding for their two-year upgrade project, a development that came with many specifications, high expectations and even higher exposure. We truly value the opportunity to work with such a culturally significant institution and love doing our part to help Sydney grow!

The Challenge

First and foremost, everything, from the banner to the sail track, needs to match the required colour, Sydney Opera House's famous Dulux Coconut Husk. With this in mind, many colour samples were produced and tested, and we made countless site visits to ensure our process, product and install were entirely up to scratch on all levels. Moreover, painting a sail track is a tricky process in-and-of-itself!

The upgrade is projected to last up to two years. Our products, therefore, need to be durable enough to look brand-spanking-new for over 24 months under the harsh conditions of an outdoors development site, creating maximum impact and exposure for the project over the entirety of its duration.

The Product

To meet these specific and technical requirements, Mesh Direct printed on our Fire Rated PVC Vinyl, a highly durable substrate with fantastic print quality. On top of this, we coated the vinyl in anti-graffiti/UV protection, so that the graphics would stay vibrant, accurate and clean for as long as possible, no matter the conditions.

The Result

We ended up with an outstanding finish and a very pleased client. The colours are a perfect match to Sydney Opera House's branding; the graphics are sharp and accurately printed, and the hoarding will keep its shine for as long as needed. A two-year upgrade project becomes a fantastic two-year exposure opportunity for this Sydney landmark!
