Hoarding Banners

The City of Sydney

Sydney is a vibrant, cosmopolitan city with a diverse population, featuring internationally recognised tourist attractions and rich history. The City of Sydney is the local government authority responsible for the city and surrounding areas. As well as providing services, programs, and projects to support local businesses and residents, they also set out guidelines and regulations for developers in Sydney. This includes policies for the use of hoarding and scaffolding around the city.

Hoardings artwork

The city’s hoarding and scaffolding guidelines require the use of creative graphics on temporary structures in high traffic areas (unless agreed otherwise with the council). Moreover, 75% of hoarding must be covered. This can be the challenging part if measurements aren’t taken correctly. More information on The City of Sydney’s specific requirements can be found here.

The Project

During November last year, a renovation of the Kings Cross public toilets was undertaken by the council. The renovation required the use of hoarding banners to fit within the city regulations. Mesh Direct measured the hoarding before-hand to ensure banners were in keeping with 75% hoarding coverage requirement. We provided mock-up artwork of the hoarding plans to help the council to visual what the final product would look like. Once approved, we supplied and installed our high-quality vinyl hoarding banners, printed with historic imagery of Kings Cross. Mesh Direct managed the project from start to finish, taking the stress away for the builders.

Why vinyl banners?

Vinyl banners were the perfect choice for this project. They produce a quality print result and are perfect for development sites. And the result was simple; the client was provided with quality banners which fit within The City of Sydney’s regulations and guidelines, while people who passed by Kings Cross were able to enjoy fantastic historic images of the area.
